Inspired by the California Gold Rush and California Common Steam Beer, this project was a collaboration with CSU printmaking professor Johnny Plastini and fermentation and brewing students. Johnny Plastini grew hops in his backyard, which the students used to brew a recipe resembling a California Common. Drawing from the recipe details and the theme Johnny Plastini envisioned for the packaging, I created a can design inspired by the California Gold Rush. After thorough research and consideration. I centered my design around the mountain ranges where the Gold Rush began, while infusing a touch of modernity. For the drink's logo, I wanted to tie it back to the people of the 1840s/50s, which led me to incorporate a cowboy hat. The hat is designed to subtlety merge the letters M and L from "Motherlode," creating a distinctive and meaningful symbol.
